POSITION

Full Time Lecturer in the Department of Kinesiology and Public Health Promotion. The role involves teaching 30 units each academic year across public health courses offered face‑to‑face, hybrid, and asynchronous online. Courses may include Introduction to Public Health, Health Behavior, Public Health Evaluation and Research, Program Design, Family Health, Coordinated School Health, or Public Health Disparities. Responsibilities also include attending department meetings, maintaining communication with university, students, and faculty when appropriate, and managing teaching workload consistent with qualifications.

The appointment is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master of Public Health (MPH), Masters of Science in Public Health, or a Masters in a health‑related field from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage the volume of work.
  • Basic computer and software knowledge and skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MPH and prior experience teaching undergraduate health‑related courses face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online, or a PhD.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Experience in the field of public health and/or CHES or CPH endorsed.
  • Experience with learning management systems, such as Canvas.
  • Ability to manage academic responsibilities, meet deadlines and adjust priorities when appropriate.
  • Skills with and/or ability to learn computer systems and software, and other multimedia skills.
  • Certificate of quality online teaching training.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary is based on qualifications and experience. As a member of the 23‑campus CSU System, the university offers a competitive benefits package. Newly hired lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the salary schedule; others are normally placed in Range
2. Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. Salaries are prorated based on the number of units assigned and paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Additional benefits include health, dental, vision, retirement, and other employee benefits available to CSU faculty.
