The Department of University Counseling Services (UCS) at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a licensed psychologist to serve as Staff Psychologist in the Student Services Professional, Academic-Related II level. The position is a 12-month, tenure-track position.
The successful candidate will provide clinical and outreach services to a diverse population of university students and also serve as the Coordinator of the Psychiatry Residency Rotation at UCS.
Working under the general supervision of the Director of the University Counseling Services (UCS), the Staff Psychologist collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to develop and implement appropriate campus/community psycho-educational programs and interventions to increase student academic and personal success. Provides clinical assessment, short-term individual and couples counseling, group psychotherapy and structured psycho-educational groups, triage/urgent care services, and clinical case management.
Provides general outreach programs and interventions to the campus community. Provides consultation to faculty, staff, and various campus constituencies regarding students with mental health concerns.
As the Coordinator of the Psychiatry Residency Rotation, conducts orientation and training with incoming residents. Coordinates responsibilities and schedules between UCS and the psychiatry residency program. Serves as ongoing contact with residency program director and supervisors. Serves as a member of the supervision team with residents and their supervisors. Provides support and information regarding CSUN students, University procedures, and UCS procedures.
Facilitates communication between UCS staff and residents. Troubleshoots electronic health record system questions. Schedules residents for group and workshop offerings. Provides feedback to residency program regarding performance of residents. Assists with paperwork related to institutional contracts and ACGME residency program guidelines.
Participates in the department’s APA-accredited doctoral training program, including provision of supervision and training. Serves on department and university committees. Attends UCS staff meetings, case conferences, professional development activities, and retreats. Maintains ethical and timely documentation of all clinical work in electronic medical record keeping system. Performs other duties as assigned.
This position may include the provision of some telemental health services and/or remote work.
