Position: Administrative Assistant 2 (Temporary)
Job Description

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary Administrative Assistant 2 (Administrative Assistant 2 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv)) to join their team.

About this Opportunity

The UW Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is charged with developing and delivering programs and services that advance learning and promote teaching excellence at the UW. The CTL's work is deeply collaborative, engaging partners across the University, including UW Bothell, UW Tacoma, Undergraduate Academic Affairs, Academic Technologies, the Graduate School, UW Libraries, the Office of Institutional Assessment and Evaluation, the Faculty Senate, and academic units.

A key partnership is the Teaching@UW Network, a tri-campus collaboration focused on coordinating and developing evidence-based instructional support across UW's three campuses. All CTL programs and services are driven by a commitment to enhancing student engagement and learning and supporting faculty members, post-docs, and graduate students and staff in instructional roles in the development of a teaching practice that is inclusive, learner-centered, and effective across modalities.

Reporting to Associate Director for CTL, the Administrative Assistant 2 is responsible for handling the administrative tasks of the CTL and Teaching@UW Network's considerable portfolio of instructional support programming and services. This program and service portfolio includes: three of UW's teaching awards;
Five for Flourishing Initiative;
Course Alignment Clinic; AI+Teaching course;
Teaching Online 101;
Evidence-Based Teaching Fellowship;
Autumn teaching orientations for 300+ graduate Teaching Assistants and 75+ new faculty members; 10-15 unique workshops and guest speaker events annually; and consultations for instructors and departments.

UW CTL manages three of the UW Awards of Excellence focused on teaching: the UW Distinguished Teaching Awards for Teams, the UW Excellence in Teaching Awards, and the UW Distinguished Teaching Awards for Seattle faculty members. This position serves as the primary point of contact for award nominees, nominators, applicants, and those writing letters of support (~300 individuals). The position is also responsible for assessing the compliance of all application portfolios (~60 applications at 15-20-pages each) and supporting the work of review committees for each of the awards (~30 individuals) by creating and organizing review materials;

communicating with reviewers; and scheduling meetings.

This position also supports the University's strategic efforts to strengthen its tri-campus network by expanding, simplifying, and improving processes that allow faculty and academic resources to move more easily across campuses. To that end, the position coordinates with the Executive Office and departmental administrators on payments for program participants; updates spreadsheets with program data; schedules Teaching@UW Network meetings; and creates and sends certificates for tri-campus programs.

This position will work closely with the CTL director and associate director, CTL team members, and Teaching@UW Network partners to ensure all programming and services meet Teaching@UW's standards of excellence.

Candidates who demonstrate strong self-motivation and high performance may be eligible for fully remote work. Standard work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm.

The salary information provided below is for a full-time position and will be prorated for this part-time, 50% FTE opportunity.
