Job SummarySt. Cecilia School and Academy seeks a compassionate, organized, and student-centered School Counselor to support the academic, social, and emotional development of students in a faith-based environment. The School Counselor works collaboratively with faculty, families, and administration to promote student well‑being while upholding the mission and values of St. Cecilia School and Academy and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Job Responsibilities- Provide individual and small-group counseling to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs
- Assist students with conflict resolution, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to identify and support students needing additional guidance
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns while maintaining confidentiality
- Develop and implement age-appropriate counseling programs and classroom guidance lessons
- Support crisis intervention and provide referrals to outside resources when necessary
- Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive school climate rooted in Catholic values
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation
- Participate in school meetings and collaborate with administration on student support plans
- Bachelor degree in School Counseling or a related field preferred
- Valid state certification or licensure in school counseling preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and staff
- Commitment to supporting the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church
- Experience working in a school setting preferred
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Completion of background screening and compliance with Archdiocese Prevent and Protect STL Safe Environment Program required
