ResponsibilitiesThe Division of Undergraduate Studies (UGS) at Florida State University is inviting applications for an Assistant in Research position. Candidates are expected to have expertise in postsecondary student success and educational research. In this role, the incumbent will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission of UGS by conducting research on student success in postsecondary education and supporting the evaluation of the effectiveness of student success initiatives (SSIs) at FSU.
Responsibilities include working with FSU’s Center for Postsecondary Success and the Collaborative Lab for the Advancement of Student Success to develop an inventory of SSIs at FSU and study the impacts and implementation of selected SSIs, such as the FSU Learning Assistants Program, AI in Teaching, and various programs throughout the university. Tasks include performing literature reviews; managing and preparing large‑scale administrative databases for analysis;
collaborating with faculty and practitioners on editing and reviewing manuscripts, reports, policy briefs, book proposals, and other publications; and presenting research findings in national and/or state conferences and other settings as needed.
Ph.D. in Higher Education or a closely related field (public policy, sociology, economics, political science, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications- Knowledge and utilization of both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- Strong experience in reviewing journal articles and developing book proposals, editing, and revisions throughout the process.
- Proven track record or demonstrated potential for research productivity in the form of peer‑reviewed publications and conference presentations.
- Strong communication and collaborative teamwork skills.
- Successful applicants will have expertise in student success and educational research, along with excellent writing and oral presentation skills.
- Familiarity with the context of postsecondary education in the state of Florida and Florida State University (FSU) student success initiatives is a plus.
