Job Description

• The GIS ASAL assistant will conduct teaching assistant duties to support faculty in teaching Introduction to GIS and Advanced GIS classes 10 hr /week).
• Additionally, the graduate assistant will work on GIS projects contract by Antioch’s Spatial Analysis Lab (ASAL).
• Projects my involve research of faculty, map making for local governments, trail maps and maps association with Natural Resource inventories (9 hr/wk).
• Graduate assistant manages GIS lab, plotter printing, monthly ASAL meetings as facilitator and note-taker, writes annual report (1 hr/wk).

• Proficient in basic GIS skills (eg map making, data collection) using Arc Pro.
• Desired skills include knowledge of QGIS and drone use.
• Have the desire to teach and patience with GIS problem solving as well as novice learners.

Remote work is possible; the percentage of time that could be remote ranges from 20% to 80% depending if TA work is on campus or virtually. Method of assessment: review of project completion, monthly ASAL team meetings, instructor supervision and evaluation.
