Position: Social Studies Teacher for MiaPrep Online High School (MOHS)

Overview

Social Studies Teacher for Mia Prep Online High School (MOHS) – 100% remote within the U.S. Time zones: any U.S. time zone. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

This role is fully remote and asynchronous. Teachers guide students through a self-paced curriculum on , providing coaching, small-group tutoring, and in-depth feedback on summative assignments. In addition to teaching responsibilities, MOHS teachers also serve as Academic Advisors to a caseload of up to 30 students, building relationships and helping students meet their goals.

Responsibilities
  • Grading and feedback for assignments across Economics, World History, World Geography, U.S. History, and Civics, with comprehensive feedback to support student learning.
  • Host weekly virtual group tutoring sessions to clarify curriculum concepts and support social studies topics.
  • Provide academic advising to a caseload of students, including quarterly check-ins and targeted support plans when needed.
  • Identify struggling students and, with the Student Support Specialist and Academic Counselors, provide tiered support to improve performance.
  • Communicate with parents and students regarding academic matters in the subject area.
  • Participate in school initiatives and contribute to policy development; lead or contribute to an extracurricular club or activity aligned with expertise or passion.
  • Contribute to a positive school culture and values among faculty and students.
  • Speak up for improvements and step in to support the school community as needed.
Schedule
  • Expect 40 hours of availability per week on a year-round basis.
  • Office hours and meetings required during U.S. school hours (8 am–4 pm in ET, CT, MT, or PT); significant grading work can occur outside these hours.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Secondary Education, or related field
  • At least 3 years of full-time secondary teaching experience
  • Professional experience supporting secondary students within the last 5 years
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to learn platforms such as grade books, Google Classroom, curriculum platforms, and Google Workspace
  • Proficiency in (or willingness to learn) responsible use of AI tools to increase efficiency in education
Ideal candidate
  • Online teaching experience (nice to have but not required)
  • Starting pay range: $24.03 - $37.34 per hour; ~40 hours/week, ~annual pay $50,000 - $77,600 when year-round
  • Compensation aligns with market data and internal equity; evaluated twice per year based on performance
