Adjunct Faculty – General Chemistry I & II Lecture & Lab for Accelerated Online Courses

Adjunct Faculty within the College of Professional Studies (CPS) are critical to the success of UNE’s online programs. The role of faculty in CPS is to facilitate the learning process for online students through timely and effective instruction and communication. Instructors also serve as mentors, sharing their experience to guide students and ensure they achieve their educational and professional goals. Faculty support student retention by creating a positive educational environment that allows students to derive maximum benefit from the program in which they are enrolled.

Instructors receive supervision, collaboration, and guidance from the UNE Online Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health (PBPH) and Bachelor of Health Sciences (BSHS) Program.

Responsibilities
  • Providing expert, graduate-level knowledge in General Chemistry I & II.
  • Guiding students through their educational experience while upholding and adhering to the CPS commitment to student success.
  • Providing timely responses to student inquiries within 24 hours.
  • Facilitating class instruction by engaging in the online course portal a minimum of five times per week.
  • Hosting a minimum of one hour of virtual office hours per week.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Willingness to analyze best practices in online General Chemistry education.
Qualifications
  • Experience teaching online in an educational setting, demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and assessment, and a passion for teaching General Chemistry.
  • Master’s degree in General Chemistry (or a related field);
    PhD preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience in General Chemistry.
  • A desire to motivate and encourage students in academic and professional settings.
  • Expertise in teaching online and a willingness to learn and apply new technological approaches to education.
  • Experience using the Brightspace/D2L Learning Management System preferred.
