Job Summary


The Middle School Social Studies Teacher is responsible for providing a dynamic and engaging learning environment that fosters academic excellence, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of history, geography, civics, and culture. As a member of the Catholic school community, the teacher supports the mission of the school by integrating Catholic values and teachings into the educational experience and serving as a positive Christian role model for students.


Job Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver standards-based instruction in middle school social studies courses, including history, geography, civics, economics, and related disciplines.
  • Develop engaging lessons that promote inquiry, critical thinking, research, discussion, and analysis of historical and current events.
  • Integrate Catholic teachings, values, and social justice principles into classroom instruction when appropriate.
  • Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and faith-filled classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments and maintain accurate records of student achievement.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Utilize technology and instructional resources effectively to enhance student learning.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, classroom expectations, and school activities.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration to support the school's academic and spiritual mission.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school-sponsored events.
  • Supervise students during assigned duties and activities.
  • Uphold school policies and procedures and model professional conduct at all times.

Job Requirements


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field required.
  • Valid state teaching certification or eligibility for certification preferred.
  • Previous teaching experience at the middle school level preferred.
  • Practicing Catholic preferred, or willingness to support and uphold the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Strong knowledge of social studies curriculum and instructional best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.

  • Ability to inspire students to develop an appreciation for history, civic responsibility, and global awareness.
  • Strong instructional planning and assessment skills.
  • Ability to integrate faith and values into the educational experience.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and school leadership.
