GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESAdvising Master’s and Doctoral Students
SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES- Advise doctoral and graduate international students regarding degree plan requirements, university policies, and career planning.
- Develop, maintain, and update academic degree plans.
- Evaluate transfer credits for applicability toward graduate and doctoral programs.
- Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Master’s Programs, Associate Dean of Doctoral Programs, Registrar’s Office, and Graduate Office.
- Provide academic guidance for students facing challenges or requesting course withdrawals.
- Maintain accurate records of student advising activities.
- Travel to weekend residencies to support students and faculty.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of International Programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION(No specific requirement listed.)
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE- Experience in higher education advising preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years of proven experience in an office or academic setting.
- Strong oral, written, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Independent problem‑solving and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism.
- Ability to build and foster relationships with students, faculty, and administrators.
- Remote work position with standard home office equipment (computer, phone, printer, etc.).
- Normal schedule:
Monday–Friday, 37.75–40 hours per week. - Evening and weekend hours required for residencies.
Plainview campus – Although full-time, nonexempt Plainview employees are normally scheduled to work 37.75 hours per week, the official work week for full‑time salaried employees is forty (40) hours.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS- Frequently stand and walk.
- Frequently flex upper trunk forward while sitting or standing.
- Frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Frequently carry up to 10 pounds and occasionally carry up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally push or pull objects.
- Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees.
- Frequently reach at or below shoulder height, and occasionally reach above shoulder height.
Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance. If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Employee must be able and willing to travel and provide recruitment assistance to external campuses. Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, have access to a dependable motor vehicle, and possess a valid state driver’s license.
Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
