Job SummaryThis posting is for a pooled position. Applications for “POOL” positions are accepted on an ongoing basis. The College will review the pool annually to maintain status. If a position becomes available, candidates whose qualifications match will be interviewed.

This pool accepts applications to teach core philosophy courses.
Responsibilities- Teach core philosophy courses as needed.
- Act as a team member of the Social Science Department.
- Communicate course objectives, grade according to those objectives, and report student progress toward those goals.
- Work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages, and successfully interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an educational team.
- Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable out‑of‑class contact with students.
- Prepare course descriptions, course outlines, and other material related to courses taught.
- Maintain a class roll and teach in conformance with approved course outlines.
- Participate in Student Appraisal of Classroom Learning.
- Work is performed in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety and health hazards.
- May require arm, hand, and finger dexterity to operate keyboard or other office equipment.
- Requires sufficient visual acuity to recognize alphanumeric characters.
- Requires good hearing and well‑developed speaking ability to communicate with staff and students.

- Master’s degree in Philosophy, or completion of 27 graduate quarter hours in Philosophy or a related discipline.
- The ability to communicate effectively as a teacher and to operate as an effective member of a team.
- Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities.
- Criminal Background Check – C4 required.
Courses are paid on a per‑credit basis. New Part‑time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps being rolled once per term, if eligible.
- Cost per credit for each step on the pay scale is illustrated in Table 1 (reference).
- Compensation per hour for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, or other related work is illustrated in Table 3 (reference).
- All new employees must be compensated via direct deposit.
- Offers are contingent on applicant having Oregon residency at the time of work commencement.
- Employment is subject to completion of a post‑offer criminal background check.
- Linn‑Benton Community College does not offer visa sponsorship.
- Within three days of hire, completion of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Form I‑9 is required.
