Regional Special Education Facilitator (Northern Front Range). This is a part‑time, hybrid, federally funded role that requires residency and a home office within Colorado.

The Regional Special Education Facilitator is responsible for working with administrative units at the building level to improve outcomes for students with disabilities through the impartial facilitation of IEP meetings and other related special‑education meetings at the request of the school or the family. The facilitator serves as a member of the Dispute Prevention and Assisted Resolution (DPAR) Workgroup and supports facilitation trainings and presentations in the region.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited college or university in special education, social work, dispute resolution, or a related field.
- Five to seven years of experience working in special education as a professional developer, trainer, teacher, special education director, or other relevant personnel.
Qualifications & Skills
- Knowledge of the special education process and legal requirements, including recent experience in special education meetings.
- Experience with conflict management and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to remain neutral and process focused on contentious situations.
- Experience with culturally responsive practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work to accommodate changing needs and critical deadlines.
- Proactive initiative and independent work ability.
- Leadership of professional learning in in‑person, hybrid, and virtual settings.
- Incorporate feedback into course revision and delivery.
- Consistent expression of professional, respectful, and customer‑service‑oriented behaviors that demonstrate CDE’s mission, vision, and values.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office programs, specifically Excel and Word.
- Intermediate experience in virtual meeting platforms, including Zoom, Google Meets, and Teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel within Colorado.
- Completion of three‑day Special Education Facilitator training.
- Prior experience facilitating IEP and related special education meetings.
- Must be willing and able to submit to a pre‑screening process and pass a background check.
- Ability and willingness to independently arrange and complete required travel (50% of travel within Colorado). Extended schedule may be required per business needs.
- Must maintain a remote (home) office and report to the work location as needed.
- Valid Colorado driver’s license required to operate a state motor vehicle for travel requirements.
- Position is funded through federal funds and is subject to availability.
- MVR check and valid driver’s license required for driving‑required positions.
Salary is within the posted range and may vary based upon experience, certifications, and internal equity.
