Job Title
Physical Education Teacher at Safe Harbor School, Manteno, IL.

Work Schedule & Salary- Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. - Year-round academic calendar with scheduled break weeks and holidays off.
- Salary: $55,000‑$65,000 annually based on credentials and teaching experience.
- Hiring Bonus: $3,000 total ($750 at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months).

Provide physical education instruction and behavior management for students with IEPs, fostering academic, social, and emotional growth.
Primary Responsibilities- Assess student needs and progress; deliver tailored physical education instruction.
- Prepare and adapt lesson plans for individual and group needs, supporting academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Stay current with effective teaching strategies for youth in residential treatment; assess progress and adjust instruction.
- Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment; model respectful communication and uphold organizational values.
- Apply crisis intervention and de‑escalation techniques; collaborate with academic and clinical staff regarding behavioral concerns.
- Foster student responsibility and recognize achievements; communicate progress and challenges to the treatment team.
- Integrate cultural diversity into instruction; maintain confidentiality per licensing and HIPAA guidelines.
- Participate in IEP development, testing, and team meetings; support treatment philosophy through training and collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in an educational discipline.
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsements in physical education.
- Valid driver’s license; must meet state and Home Office driving requirements.
- Must pass Illinois DCFS criminal background check.
- Completed Therapeutic Crisis Intervention exam and training.
- Ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals; understanding of unique needs and challenges.
- Open to meeting cultural needs of individuals and communities.
Education and Experience
- At least 2 years of teaching experience.
- Active licensure/certification specialization in EBD, LD, SED, and TMH.
- Assist staff in physical and non‑physical interventions with residents.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100+ pounds with assistance.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2‑4 hours).
- Ability to twist, bend, and stretch as needed.
