Teaching faculty provide learning activities and support that facilitate student learning and contribute to the educational environment. Adjunct faculty are hired part‑time semester‑by‑semester, teaching a maximum of five classes per academic year.
Essential Job Functions- Teaches History courses at a variety of times and locations
- Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
- Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner
- Utilizes a course syllabus following institutional guidelines
- Meets with and advises students via appointment or electronic communication
- Evaluates student progress and informs students promptly
- Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
- Attends required meetings, trainings, and orientations
- Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned
- Mastery of course content

- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work with diverse people

The work is sedentary with light walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, or occasional driving. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and Conditions- Uses a PC workstation on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
- Interfaces with internal and external contacts as needed
- Works in a climate‑controlled classroom and/or lab environment
- Hours vary by class time; instructors are available to meet students outside class instruction
- Master’s degree in History or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in History
$55.44 per contact hour. Benefits include tuition waiver, participation in a tax‑deferred retirement plan, professional development opportunities, and work/life balance.
