Step into a rewarding environment supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter in a school-based setting. The positions available are contract opportunities serving either high school or elementary‑to‑middle school students during the academic year. Work closely with educational teams to facilitate communication and access to education for students using American Sign Language.
What You’ll Need- Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (screenshot of confirmed score required)
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially in educational or school settings
- Proficiency with American Sign Language and familiarity with interpreting in academic environments
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and other professionals
- Flexibility to adapt interpreting skills to various classroom subjects and environments
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive learning environment
- High School (Grades 9-12): 35 hours/week, 8:00am-3:30pm, August 10, 2026 – May 20, 2027; small caseload typically 13 students per class
- Elementary‑Middle School (K-8): 35 hours/week, 8:15am-3:45pm, August 17, 2026 – May 28, 2027; larger group, typically 15 students per class
- Onsite services only; virtual/remote work not available
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities in real time
- Ensure clarity and understanding for students and staff in all settings
- Build rapport and support the unique social, emotional, and educational needs of students
- Collaborate with special education teams to maintain high standards for accessibility
