Job Overview

Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking adjunct faculty to teach in the 2025‑2026 academic year. Positions are available at Walla Walla, Clarkston, Washington State Penitentiary, Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, and online/remotely. Part‑time or temporary adjunct faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. Academic and Teaching Opportunities

WWCC offers adjunct faculty a wide range of opportunities across extended learning, dual‑credit alternative high school, workplace learning, outreach learning, and personal enrichment programs. Courses include Commercial Truck Driving (CDL) and other disciplines; candidates teaching multiple disciplines are encouraged to apply to each relevant pool. Applications are reviewed months prior to the start of each quarter.

General Responsibilities

Adjunct faculty are expected to follow all applicable college policies and safety procedures while fulfilling instructional responsibilities.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Prepare and teach College‑approved Commercial Truck Driving (CDL) courses in alignment with Washington State and Federal standards
  • Deliver instruction and hands‑on training in pre‑trip inspection, backing maneuvers, shifting procedures, coupling/uncoupling, and safe driving practices
  • Monitor student performance during on‑road and lab instruction, ensuring safe vehicle operation at all times
  • Evaluate student progress, provide timely feedback, and assign final grades
  • Communicate course expectations clearly to students with varying skill levels
  • Utilize instructional tools and technology appropriate to course delivery
  • Maintain accurate records related to student performance and course outcomes
  • Be available to students for consultation related to coursework, as appropriate

Required Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid commercial driver’s license and five (5) years of experience driving with a CDL Class A License without air brake, manual transmission, or 5th wheel restrictions
  • Ten (10) years of driving abstract with no violations in the past three (3) years
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of the college. For remote work, must reside in WA, OR, , CA, IL, NE, NV, PA, or TX.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years’ experience teaching CDL at a community college
  • Documented completion of a trade school certified in commercial truck driving preparation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CDL state and federal laws and Washington State traffic laws
  • A passion for instruction of commercial truck driving and the mission of a two‑year college
  • A demonstrated understanding and value for a diverse workforce
