Position: Teaching Artist (Part-time)
Description

Position Overview:

Teaching Artists working within Perez Art Museum Miami's Youth Tours Programs play a crucial role in utilizing modern and contemporary art to facilitate genuine human connection. Through the Knight Schools, PAMM in the Neighborhood, and PAMM Teen Arts Council programs, Teaching Artists develop curriculum, facilitate tours, lead art making experiences, provide mentorship, and support community engagement for K-12 student and educator audiences and beyond.

During the academic school year (September
- May), Teaching Artists work primarily on site at the museum to lead tours and art activities for students participating in field trips through the Knight Schools program. Occasionally, Teaching Artists visit schools to lead activities or participate in Career Days and other activations. During the summer months (June
- August) Teaching Artists lead on-site and off-site art making and gallery experiences for summer camps and community groups serving youth in grades K-12, with frequent (two times a week or more) off-site travel to multiple locations across Miami-Dade County. With these tours and activities, Teaching Artists equip some of our youngest audience members with the skills for close looking, critical thinking, and making connections between modern and contemporary art and the broader world.

Teaching Artists also conduct museum and off-site programs for pre-K students, teens, families and intergenerational audiences.

Teaching Artists must be available Monday through Friday, from 9am to 3pm. This is a hybrid role. Teaching Artists typically work on campus when the museum is open and have opportunities for remote work when the museum is closed to the public with some exceptions. Occasional evening and weekend in-person engagements are also required.

The starting hourly rate is $23/hr.
