Job Title

Kindergarten ESL Teacher (Grades 26-27 SY) – Lee Elementary School

Irving, Texas – Starting August 1, 2026

Position Type

Full‑Time (Exempt)

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the curriculum program assigned and document preparation as required.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency.
  • Use available data to plan and implement instructional strategies that accommodate individual student needs (gifted and talented, bilingual/ESL, 504, etc.).
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEP guidelines.
  • Cooperate with staff to plan and implement instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides or volunteers.
  • Integrate appropriate technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits.
  • Monitor student achievement through formative and summative assessments.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned; may sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  • Serve as a positive role model supporting the mission of the school district.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning aligned with intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and IEP, taking necessary precautions to protect students and facilities.
  • Help select instructional materials such as books and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents/guardians, supervisors, colleagues, and community members.
  • Present information accurately and clearly using appropriate communication skills.
  • Demonstrate current knowledge and skill in the assigned content area and instructional strategies.
  • Participate in district and campus professional development and show initiative in professional improvement.
  • Stay informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file required reports and records.
  • Attend faculty/staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior in compliance with the Educator Code of Ethics.
  • Maintain awareness of the Irving ISD Employee Handbook and Board Policy.
  • Identify and comply with safety rules and District policy; enforce safety training and personal protective equipment usage.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate for subject/level assigned.
  • Completion of Texas Reading Academy required for Elementary.
  • ESL Supplemental Certification preferred.
  • Supported competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfort with technology use and integration.
  • Minimum one year of student teaching or approved internship experience.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
