Contract Term: 12-month grant-funded position
Salary Range: $75,000–$80,000 annualized,commensurate with education and experience
Position SummaryThe Assistant Director, Learning Experience Design plays a key role in advancing the association’s professional development strategy by designing, developing, and maintaining high?quality digital learning experiences for members. This position is currently funded through a grant, focused on creating a series of engaging, short?form digital courses and other professional development content for college admission counseling professionals.
While the initial emphasis is on micro?learning and short course development, the role is designed to evolve over time to support broader learning initiatives, emerging educational needs, and innovative delivery models. The ideal candidate is both a skilled instructional designer and a collaborative partner who can translate complex content into accessible, learner?centered digital experiences.
Key Responsibilities Learning Design & Course Development- Lead the design and development of micro?learning and shortcourse content aligned with project goals, learner needs, and organizational priorities.
- Conduct learner needs assessments and gap analyses, and determine learning objectives and outcomes that address the concerns identified.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, internal stakeholders, and organizational leaders to translate content into effective digital learning experiences.
- Develop course storyboards, scripts, and instructional content grounded in adult learning principles and best practices.
- Utilize rapid authoring and creative tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.) to develop and publish eLearning content, including multimedia assets such as videos, interactive elements, visual aids, etc.
- Test learning experiences for usability, accessibility, and learner experience.
- Perform ongoing updates and maintenance to course content based on learner feedback and evolving needs.
- Work closely with the Education & Training team to ensure alignment with departmental strategy.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Contribute flexibly to team priorities and ad hoc initiatives.
- Stay current on trends in digital learning and instructional design.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in instructional design or digital learning development.
- Strong communication, organization, and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Master’s degree in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or related field.
- Knowledge of K–12 or postsecondary transition issues.
- Experience in professional associations or grant-funded initiatives.
This position follows a hybrid schedule with remote work on Mondays and Fridays and in-office work Tuesday through Thursday in Arlington, VA.
