Job Summary

As a member of Student Engagement, the Student Organization Coordinator will work directly with advising Club Council, Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, and a large variety of student organizations to develop student leaders and provide engagement opportunities for a large and varied group of students.

Key Responsibilities

This position is housed within the UAA Department of Student Engagement and provides leadership and strategic direction for fraternity and sorority life and student organizations, advising councils and groups on leadership development, organizational management, recruitment, budgeting, and risk management while coordinating major programs and events. The role oversees educational initiatives on key topics such as leadership, academic success, social responsibility, and policy compliance, and supports campus-wide engagement through training, retreats, and collaborative programming.

Additionally, the position supervises student staff, contributes to scholarship and recognition efforts, and ensures alignment with university policies and procedures.

To thrive in this role, the ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in student development and leadership education theory, along with demonstrated success advising and engaging a wide range of university students. They possess the ability to design and implement innovative programs, navigate complex situations with advanced conflict resolution and mediation skills, and effectively manage operations including supervision, budgeting, fundraising, and assessment.

Success in this position also requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to build collaborative relationships across campus, and experience in student organization advising—particularly within fraternity and sorority life.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field required.

Master's degree in Education, Social Work, Educational Leadership, Counseling, or any other related area preferred.

Position Details

This is a full‑time, exempt staff position with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
