Job SummaryThe Archdiocese of St. Louis's Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in O’Fallon, MO, seeks a Youth Minister to create and direct an environment through the EDGE Youth Ministry Program, engaging middle school youth in the Eucharist, teachings of Jesus, Catholic community, and collaboration with the Life Teen High School Ministry. This position includes administrative work for both middle school and high school programs as directed by the Pastor.
Responsibilities- Ministerial:
- Pastoral availability to all middle school youth at Assumption Parish, both enrolled in PSR and Assumption School.
- Establish relationships with Assumption School students to involve them in the Edge Community.
- Coordinate the Edge Middle School Ministry program as preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation with the Director of Religious Education and Director of Youth Ministry.
- Recruit, train, and supervise the Edge Core Team.
- Plan, prepare, and lead Wednesday Edge Sessions and FREDGE events, delegating to Edge Core Members.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate the Luke 18 Retreat in collaboration with the High School Youth Minister.
- Serve as an active member of the Life Teen Core Team to promote the Assumption Youth Ministry Program.
- Serve as a resource to middle school youth, core team members, parents/guardians, and parishioners.
- Administrative:
- Provide direction, planning, coordination, and evaluation of the Assumption Youth Ministry Program.
- Collaborate with the High School Youth Minister on Life Teen ministry and Luke 18 Retreat.
- Determine and schedule meeting locations in the parish.
- Attend monthly Pastoral Staff Meetings.
- Develop and manage the Edge budget.
- Maintain timely communication with middle school youth and parents/guardians via parish website, email, and social media.
- Ensure core members and volunteers comply with Protecting God’s Children policies, coordinated with the parish safe environment coordinator.
- For Lifeteen/High School duties: schedule meeting locations, coordinate retreats and off‑campus events (reservations, transportation, registrations), develop and manage budgets, communicate events to staff and parish bulletin, and ensure compliance with Protecting God’s Children.
- Bachelor’s degree in religious education or theology preferred;
Bachelor’s required.
- Background in youth ministry and parish ministry.
- Confirmed, practicing Catholic.
- Qualified by State and Diocesan policies regarding prior accusations or convictions of sexual abuse.
- Well‑developed communication skills.
- Emotionally and spiritually mature.
- Ability to handle a variety of ministerial tasks.
- Able to communicate Catholic faith and teachings to youth and adults.
- Commitment to continuing youth ministry education.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Drive.
- Familiarity with modern social media.
- Working knowledge of AV equipment.
- Must possess an energy level comparable to teens.
- Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs.
- Evening and some weekend duties.
- Flexible working times, remote working options.
