Position: South County Education Program Instructor [Full time]

Position Description

Title:

Impact Specialist I, South County - [40 hours/week – full benefits] Work Schedule

Full-time, non-exempt; generally to be scheduled up to 40 hrs/week, between 7:00 am-6:00 pm, Monday-Friday; with monthly Saturday meetings; and 7:00 am–6:00 pm during Intersession Program. Occasional evenings and weekends for field trips and special events.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Under the direction of the South County Program Coordinator, the Impact Specialist drives youth success through outstanding, Mission-driven and integrity-centered leadership and management of school site programming in South County. They accomplish this by engaging youth in age-appropriate and outcome-driven programs. This includes ensuring a safe, positive, fun and impactful environment that engages hundreds of diverse youth, ages 6 to 18 years old.

This position involves flexible hours and remote work due to program delivery occurring at school sites in South County and requires a high level of community relations with schools, administrators and other community partners. The Impact Specialist’s primary work location is the Boys & Girls Club administrative office in Salinas and remote office location when needed.

Key

Roles and Responsibilities Youth Success
  • Foster a safe, positive, fun and impactful program where participants acquire a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness, power and influence.
  • Provide leadership for the Girls’ Leadership Network (GLN) lessons, GHGH summit, and advocacy project(s).
  • Address youth behavior with a positive discipline approach that is fair, firm, consistent and kind; helping youth take responsibility/accountability for their actions accompanied with appropriate consequences.
  • Collaborate with school partners to support youth success.
  • Ensure a culture of high expectations and frequent recognition of youth for their efforts and achievements.
Program Staff Supervision and Development
  • Work collaboratively with the South County Program Coordinator in hiring, training, and managing Youth Development Professionals and Volunteers.
  • Implement effective performance management, including but not limited to, setting expectations, giving feedback on performance and establishing professional development goals.
  • Provide professional development feedback and opportunities.
Program Impact Management
  • Responsible for delivery of school-day and after-school program commitment established in quarterly/annual goals.
  • Monitors progress and takes action accordingly, emphasis on youth reach (e.g., outreach, recruitment, retention, average daily/weekly attendance, program participation, etc.) and impact.
  • Collaborate with school/program sites to meet parents in an effort to engage families with youth success.
  • Utilizes impact management tools such as program observation and tracking attendance to benchmark progress.
  • Implement grant funded projects, analyze information/reports, present findings, make recommendations with the South County Program team and take action.
  • Contributes to strategic planning and facilitates implementation with clarity of goals, roles and responsibilities, process ensuring effective, accountable working relationships to achieve results.
Interdepartmental Collaboration

Collaborates with other departments to achieve organizational goals including:

  • Operations for all transportation and technology needs
  • Development Team for South County specific Club sponsored events
  • Contributes to special event planning and execution; provides leadership of site based Family Nights and program celebrations
  • Identify any safety, transportation, maintenance, and technology issues to supervisor & Operations.
  • Implements social media efforts with supervisor & Marketing on strategies to build awareness of the GHGH & South County programs and ensure all media communication is on-brand.
Community Relations
  • Attend school/district meetings and/or meet with teachers/staff/liaisons as needed to support program efforts.
