Position: Parent Coach / Home Visitor
Location: New York

Overview

OBJECTIVES: Reporting to the Manager, Programs – Education/Site Supervisor, the Staff, Programs – Parent Coach/Home Visitor provides individualized, family-centered, home-based services to parents and/or guardians of children from birth to 36 months of age. This position is responsible for assessing family needs, planning and delivering developmentally appropriate activities, and supporting children in achieving developmental milestones. The Parent Coach/Home Visitor also partners with families to identify developmental concerns, achieve individualized family goals, and strengthen parenting skills to promote optimal learning and growth.

This role supports Northside’s mission by empowering families and promoting the overall well-being and development of all designated family members.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit and enroll eligible children and families to maintain full enrollment and an active waitlist for the assigned home-based program.
  • Conduct regular home visits to deliver comprehensive Head Start services across all program component areas.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate group socializations, parent trainings, and educational activities based on family needs assessments.
  • Implement designated home-based curricula and ensure timely screenings and ongoing developmental assessments for each child.
  • Partner with families to identify child and family strengths and needs, develop family goals, and make appropriate referrals to internal and community resources.
  • Monitor children’s health requirements, including annual physical and immunizations, and assist families in accessing medical and support services.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation, including case notes, reports, and required mandated reporting.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, community collaborations, program self-assessments, and federal monitoring reviews as directed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and government documents.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address practical challenges in situations with limited standardization.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to engage families, community members, managers, and regulatory agencies in both individual and group settings.
  • Ability to write clearly and accurately using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and to organize documentation effectively.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages, and to interpret bar graphs and data.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree (AA) in Social Services, Child Development, or related field preferred.
  • Home Visitor Child Development Associate (CDA) Credentials preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary commensurate with experience. Northside offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Salary Range $35,000 - $40,000
