Position Summary
The Online Learning Facilitator is responsible for supporting and monitoring students enrolled in-person in online coursework to ensure academic success, consistent engagement, and timely course completion. The facilitator serves as the primary point of contact for students, families, teachers, counselors, and administrators regarding student progress, attendance, and intervention needs. This position requires proactive monitoring, communication, and documentation to ensure students remain on track to meet course completion requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
Student Progress Monitoring
- Monitor student academic progress on a weekly basis using the online learning platform, Edmentum.
- Review course completion rates, assignment submissions, assessment performance, and overall pacing.
- Ensure students are making adequate weekly progress toward course completion.
- Encourage and support students in developing effective time management and organizational skills.
- Assist students in creating individualized plans to recover from learning deficits or missed work.
- Meet regularly with students who are behind pace and develop intervention plans.
- Monitor student participation, hours logged into online courses, progress in the course and in-person attendance each week.
- Verify that students are meeting minimum engagement expectations.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and course activity.
- Identify students demonstrating patterns of disengagement, behavior issues, or insufficient logged hours.
- Communicate concerns regarding attendance, behavior and participation to students, parents/guardians, counselors, and administrators.
- Document interventions and communication related to student attendance and academic progress.
- Follow district procedures regarding excused and unexcused absences as outlined in the student handbook.
- Ensure all documentation is maintained accurately and confidentially.
- Maintain regular communication with families and administrators regarding academic progress and course expectations.
- Notify parents when progress falls below expected levels.
- Implement intervention strategies for students who are not making adequate progress.
- Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and teachers to address academic and attendance concerns.
- Conduct conferences with students and families when necessary to develop improvement plans.
- Work collaboratively with other members of our students services team (CORE) to ensure academic success.
- Assist with student enrollment, orientation, and onboarding into online courses.
- Educate students and families regarding online learning expectations, timelines, and graduation requirements.
- Generate weekly progress reports for students, counselors, administrators, and families.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by analyzing student success data and identifying barriers to completion.
- Valid Ohio teaching license preferred.
- Experience working with secondary students.
- Strong organizational, communication, and technology skills.
- Ability to analyze student performance data and implement appropriate interventions.
- Knowledge of online learning platforms and student information systems.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and families while maintaining high expectations.
- Students are expected to make adequate weekly progress toward course completion.
- Student progress and hours logged will be monitored weekly.
- Students may work ahead of schedule when appropriate.
- The facilitator will promptly intervene when students fall behind pace expectations.
- Lack of progress and/or unexcused absences may result in truancy procedures in accordance with district policy.
- All attendance procedures will align with the guidelines outlined in the applicable student handbook.
