Position: Adjunct Faculty POOL- Developmental English Writing & Reading (2025-2026 Academic Year)

Adjunct Faculty Pool - Developmental English Writing & Reading  Academic Year)

Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) seeks part-time adjunct faculty to teach English Language Acquisition (ELA) courses across multiple campuses, including Walla Walla, Clarkston, Washington State Penitentiary, Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, and online/remotely.

Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned classes at scheduled times and places.
  • Prepare and deliver course materials, provide timely feedback, and assign grades.
  • Provide each student with a comprehensive syllabus at the beginning of the quarter.
  • Conduct frequent evaluations of student performance and give ongoing feedback.
  • Maintain student records and grades in the College’s LMS.
  • Offer a minimum of one office hour each week that is reasonable for student access.
  • Maintain course outlines and syllabi to reflect program curriculum.
  • Review and recommend program textbooks, materials, and technology.
  • Utilize available technology appropriate to the assignment.

Required Qualifications
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience in TESOL, Adult Education, Secondary Education, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related credentialing may be considered.
  • Demonstrated proficiency teaching language development at the pre-college or secondary level (two years minimum); experience as a teaching assistant, adjunct, or community education instructor may count.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promote equitable access and educational achievement of diverse students.
  • For remote work, applicants must reside in WA, OR, , CA, IL, PA, or TX.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in TESOL, Adult Education, Education, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field.
  • Knowledge of Career and College Readiness Standards for Adult Education.
  • Knowledge of multi-level classroom language acquisition environments.
  • Experience teaching at a community college or secondary level.
  • Experience using instructional technology (LMS, digital whiteboards, Zoom).
  • Experience teaching in a variety of modalities: in-person, hybrid, blended, and online.
  • Experience working with and relating to persons from varied cultural, ethnic, gender, age, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.
Conditions and Terms of Employment

This part-time instruction assignment is contingent on enrollment and located at Walla Walla Campus. Hired individuals must provide lawful employment documentation within three days of employment and provide transcripts. WWCC participates in E-Verify and requires a criminal history background check as a condition for consideration. The College is tobacco-free, and all employees must use direct deposit for payment.

Compensation

Adjunct assistant professor compensation is contingent on enrollment and is paid according to the contract between WWCC Board of Trustees and the WWCC Association for Higher Education. Salary schedule is available on the WWCC Human Resources Page (link removed).
