Standard schedule would be Monday–Friday, either 10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. or 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. local time. Some weekend shifts throughout the year are required. Preference will be given to candidates in IL, MN, and MD.

Job Description

Student Success Coaches serve as academic mentors, coaches, advisors, and ultimately are champions focused on the success of their students. They do not teach courses; rather, they serve as students’ primary source of support to ensure each student is making meaningful progress in their program. Coaches work weekly with their assigned students to overcome learning obstacles and understand program expectations. They partner closely with faculty to ensure each student receives the support and academic engagement required for success.

Responsibilities
  • Providing direct, comprehensive program guidance to assigned students (average of 120‑150 students).
  • Supporting students in their educational planning and progress from enrollment to graduation.
  • Managing students’ academic progress according to university policies.
  • Encouraging students to engage with faculty for deeper academic support.
  • Maintaining documentation of all academic engagements.
  • Communicating regularly with students according to university protocol.
  • Serving as an expert in students’ program details to answer or obtain answers to all questions.
  • Advising on time management and schedule benchmarks for mastering program concepts.
  • Helping students identify strengths and weaknesses and connecting them to university resources.
  • Evaluating learning styles, skills, deficiencies, and goals; providing appropriate learning resources.
  • Assessing student learning engagement and readiness for assessment.
  • Monitoring academic progress and intervening as necessary.
  • Assisting with career planning within expertise and directing to other resources as needed.
  • Coaching on University policies, procedures, and program requirements.
  • Working closely with faculty to coordinate and timely address inquiries while supporting academic integrity.
  • Guiding students to develop accountability and understand the impact of decisions.
  • Providing proactive guidance on adjusting to undergraduate or graduate life.
  • Empowering students to maintain effective connections to the University and its online community.
  • Spending significant time working at a computer and on the phone using a headset.
  • Being flexible in work hours to accommodate student needs.
  • Working above and beyond 40 hours per week during peak periods as needed.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Complying with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a service-oriented environment, teaching, or university setting.
  • Strong commitment to education with counselling or coaching skills to keep CBE students on track.
  • Strong customer service orientation and excellent communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to resolve student issues from request through resolution.
  • Experience working with multiple databases and student platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with integrated technology systems and tools.
  • Skilled at building rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Creative, innovative, independent, and team‑oriented.
  • Self‑starter.
  • Ability to adapt to new and rapidly changing situations.
  • Familiarity with online learning and internet technology is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits

Expected salary range: $24.00–$28.00 per hour. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, licensure, and other factors.
