Simmons University – School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) is seeking an Assistant Professor of Practice for a 12‑month contract, beginning in Fall
2026. The position will involve teaching in the Archives Management and Cultural Heritage Informatics concentrations both on‑campus and online, as well as advising, curriculum development, and service activities related to the school and university objectives.
The faculty member will complete a standard seven‑course annual teaching load, including core and elective courses, while demonstrating a strong commitment to student learning, inclusive pedagogy, and continuous improvement in teaching effectiveness.
Primary Responsibilities- Teach on‑ground and online courses in the Archives Management and Cultural Heritage Informatics (CHI) concentrations.
- Support students through advising, office hours, and mentorship.
- Contribute to curriculum development and assessment to ensure program and course objectives are achieved.
- Actively participate in the mission and vision of SLIS, including committee work, faculty governance, and university initiatives.
- Maintain professional currency through ongoing development, active participation in academic and professional communities, and, where applicable, certification or licensure.
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MSLIS).
- Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to student engagement and success.
- Experience in teaching, collaboration, and professional involvement in archives, cultural heritage, or related information fields is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
