This contract position offers an opportunity to serve as an itinerant teacher for visually impaired students in Suffolk, VA. The role involves managing a caseload of approximately 20-25 students from kindergarten through 12th grade, providing specialized telehealth services across the district. Collaboration with a virtual Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) and support from a technology specialist for AAC devices are integral components of the position.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering itinerant instruction tailored to the needs of visually impaired students.
- Acting as case manager for students with prescribed visual impairments.
- Developing, writing, and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Coordinating with related services staff to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Utilizing telehealth platforms to provide effective remote instruction.
- Valid Virginia Department of Education license for teaching visually impaired students.
- At least 2 years of recent teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to create and implement IEPs.
- Strong collaboration skills with educational and related services professionals.
