Job Description andPosition Requirements
University Libraries – University Park Life Sciences Library seeks motivated and responsible individuals to provide reference desk and public services assistance.
- Reference assistance
- Circulation of reference items
- Maintenance of the overall appearance of our library
- Enforcement of University and Libraries policies
- Collection of data for various types of assessment
- Shelve periodicals and file other library reference materials
- Shelf reading/scanning of collections
- Other duties of a similar nature
Applicants should have strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills. Applicants with a background in any of the life sciences are preferred.
This position requires the ability to move throughout our library during the course of a shift. It will also require some evening and weekend shifts as scheduled, as well as the availability and willingness to pick up open shifts.
Background Checks/ClearancesEmployment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
Campus Security StatisticsPer the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those about alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
