Job Overview
Instructional Coach – K12, Iowa Virtual Academy (IAVA)
Required:
Iowa Teaching Certification, residency in Iowa.
Start date:
FY 26/27 School Year.
- Design and implement well‑organized individual and group learning opportunities for teachers and school leaders.
- Model effective and differentiated instruction for teachers.
- Create and deliver ongoing professional development for teachers and school leaders.
- Assist teachers in aligning instruction with strong teaching methods, standards, and student data.
- Observe teachers and school leaders and provide meaningful feedback and coaching.
- Increase teacher effectiveness by improving quality of teaching and learning through ongoing support.
- Equip staff with resources and skills needed to implement effective instructional practices.
- Assist teachers and school leaders with implementing instructional decisions based on student data.
- Assist in implementing assessment and grading practices.
- Provide support to teachers and administrators in analyzing student data.
- Support the development of high‑quality professional learning communities.
- Conduct research around new practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education.
- Five (5) years of successful teacher experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Pass required background check.
- Experience designing and delivering quality professional development for administrators and teachers.
- Previous coaching or leadership experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum frameworks, standards, and research‑based instructional practices.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and organization skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web‑conferencing tools.
- Master’s degree in Education, Instruction, or Leadership.
- Interpersonal skills to create collaborative and collegial relationships with teachers and school leaders.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Salary range: $40,007.00 – $60,010.00 (in the bottom half of the range). Eligible employees may receive a bonus. The position includes a robust benefits package that may include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
Employment ConditionsThis is a full‑time virtual position. Expected to work 40+ hours per week, typically 9‑5 (or 8‑4) from a professional home office.
