Job Overview

Instructional Coach – K12, Iowa Virtual Academy (IAVA)

Required:

Iowa Teaching Certification, residency in Iowa.

Start date:

FY 26/27 School Year.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement well‑organized individual and group learning opportunities for teachers and school leaders.
  • Model effective and differentiated instruction for teachers.
  • Create and deliver ongoing professional development for teachers and school leaders.
  • Assist teachers in aligning instruction with strong teaching methods, standards, and student data.
  • Observe teachers and school leaders and provide meaningful feedback and coaching.
  • Increase teacher effectiveness by improving quality of teaching and learning through ongoing support.
  • Equip staff with resources and skills needed to implement effective instructional practices.
  • Assist teachers and school leaders with implementing instructional decisions based on student data.
  • Assist in implementing assessment and grading practices.
  • Provide support to teachers and administrators in analyzing student data.
  • Support the development of high‑quality professional learning communities.
  • Conduct research around new practices.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education.
  • Five (5) years of successful teacher experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Pass required background check.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience designing and delivering quality professional development for administrators and teachers.
  • Previous coaching or leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum frameworks, standards, and research‑based instructional practices.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and organization skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web‑conferencing tools.
  • Master’s degree in Education, Instruction, or Leadership.
  • Interpersonal skills to create collaborative and collegial relationships with teachers and school leaders.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $40,007.00 – $60,010.00 (in the bottom half of the range). Eligible employees may receive a bonus. The position includes a robust benefits package that may include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.

Employment Conditions

This is a full‑time virtual position. Expected to work 40+ hours per week, typically 9‑5 (or 8‑4) from a professional home office.
