Position Details

This is a full‑time position requiring the ability to work independently (typically 40+ hours per week) and maintain a professional home office during the workday (typically 9‑5 or 8‑4, as defined by the school).

Summary

The CTE Business & Technology Teacher is a state‑certified teacher responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. The teacher provides instruction, support, and guidance; manages the learning process; and focuses on students’ individual needs. They monitor student progress through the Stride K12 learning management system and work actively with students and parents to advance learning and develop post‑secondary success plans.

Functions
  • Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students
  • Commit to personalizing learning for all students
  • Demonstrate belief in all students’ ability to succeed and meet high expectations
  • Differentiated instruction based on student mastery levels
  • Augment course content using appropriate tools under guidance from principal and coach
  • Maintain grade book, ensuring academic integrity, make placement and promotion decisions, and alert administrators to performance concerns
  • Prepare students for high‑stakes standardized tests
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with families, communicating regularly and responding to students, learning coaches, and parents in a timely manner
  • Support learning coaches and parents with curricular and instructional issues, including troubleshooting in a virtual classroom environment in line with academy policies
  • Travel as required (average once per month and/or up to 25% of the time) for face‑to‑face professional development, student testing, and other school needs
  • Maintain knowledge of state, national, and industry‑specific learning standards
  • Develop effective instructional tools and strategies to supplement and enhance the provided curriculum
  • Collaborate regularly with the school and national professional learning community
  • Support a project‑based learning model
Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Active CTE state teaching certification or active high school grade‑level state teaching certification with CTE Validation
  • Ability to clear required background check(s)
Other

Required Qualifications
  • Collaborate with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data and use it to drive instructional decisions
  • Receptive to regular coaching from administrators and teacher trainers
  • Embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Power Point
  • Rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with the proposed age group
  • Experience supporting adults and children in technology usage
  • Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or brick‑and‑mortar environment
  • Experience with project‑based learning
Work Environment
  • The noise level in the home office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic, household appliances, and household distractions)
  • The noise level at meeting locations throughout the state is typically moderate and should not vary much from the home office
