The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) is seeking a dedicated, student-centered professional to step into the role of Student Engagement and Leadership Manager. You will guide the development and execution of the Student Activities Board, campus clubs, and service-learning events throughout the academic year. As a vital part of the Campus Life team, you will work hands‑on with students to empower them in driving campus programming and cultivating a vibrant university experience.

Serving as the primary advisor for the Student Activities Board while also supporting the UAS‑Juneau Student Government and the Whalesong student media organization, this position offers a profound opportunity to impact student retention and overall satisfaction. We are looking for an innovator ready to refine our practices and champion student success and engagement across the UAS Juneau Campus. Knowledge

/ Skills / Abilities
  • Excellent organization and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, advise, and coordinate student groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically perform UA HR and fiscal responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply student development theory and social justice practices to performing job duties on a regular basis.
  • Ability to perform supervisory duties over a small staff.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work evenings and potentially holidays due to on-campus events.

Typical

Experience:

Two years of relevant experience, preferably in higher education and coordinating large‑scale events. Experience working successfully with people of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Required Education or Training:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of progressively responsible relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience (working in a college or university and/or with large scale events).

A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.

Position Details

This position is located on the UAS campus in Juneau, AK. It is a full‑time, 11‑month, exempt staff position complete with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage.

New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
