Job Summary
The Instructional Designer will support multiple concurrent projects across iLaw partner schools, ensuring consistency, alignment, and high instructional quality across deliverables. This role is primarily hands‑on, focused on designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing web‑based instructional materials that support online teaching and learning. The ideal candidate will translate complex subject matter into engaging, learner‑centered digital experiences by conceptualizing and storyboarding interactive course components and building them using modern e‑learning authoring tools.
This individual will collaborate closely with the iLaw Instructional Design team and partner school faculty to deliver effective, scalable learning solutions aligned with program goals.
Salary
: $65,000 - $83,000
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis without the need for current or future employer sponsorship. This role does not offer visa sponsorship, and temporary work authorization is not eligible.
Job Responsibilities- Design and develop engaging, learner‑centered educational programs grounded in adult learning principles and instructional design best practices
- Create digital learning assets, including storyboards, wireframes, graphics, motion graphics, and video content
- Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to translate complex content into clear, interactive, and effective learning experiences
- Conduct SME interviews to gather and synthesize content for blended and digital learning solutions
- Collaborate with SMEs to develop evaluation strategies, including knowledge checks, assessments, and course evaluations
- Work closely with the Product Innovation team to guide stakeholders through adaptive learning engagements, from kick‑off through user acceptance testing
- Deliver strategic e‑learning consulting to internal stakeholders and higher education clients, including course design, template development, blended delivery, and student engagement strategies
- Ensure consistency and alignment across projects by applying established instructional design standards and best practices
- Participate in content review, revision, and approval cycles to ensure quality, accuracy, and instructional effectiveness
- Manage priorities, timelines, and deliverables across projects while tracking work within project management tools
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Sciences, Educational Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical or educational field
- 3+ years of experience in instructional design and online content development
- Advanced knowledge of adult learning principles and online learning methodologies, including usability and web accessibility best practices
- Experience applying established instructional design frameworks (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Design Thinking)
- Proficiency with e‑learning and multimedia authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Photoshop, Audacity, Camtasia, Vyond)
- Experience working with learning management systems (LMS) and applying accessibility standards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for visual and graphic design
- Demonstrated strengths in organization, problem‑solving, analysis, design, and testing
- Creative, innovative, and adaptable approach to course design and development
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, evolving environment while maintaining quality, meeting deadlines, and adhering to budget constraints
- Flexibility to travel up to 10% in support of business objectives
- Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field
- Experience designing online course content for higher education institutions
- Prior teaching or instructional experience
- Background in legal education or possession of a law degree
- Experience with video post‑production workflows, including editing, color correction, and audio enhancement
