Organizes the development and delivery of outreach programs, including staffing responsibilities. Assists with policy development and organizes resources to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and the local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences.
LocationDivision of Extension headquarters, 3500 University Ave. Madison, Wisconsin.
Remote WorkSome work may be performed remotely, at an off‑site, non‑campus location. Remote work requires an approved Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA). Candidates must possess their own high‑speed internet, phone, and a university‑provided computer. Transportation to and from the assigned work location is not reimbursable and will be at the employee’s expense. The position may allow up to two days per week remote work, consistent with the Extension Remote Work Policy.
Evening/WeekendWork
Occasional nights and weekends may be required to meet program needs.
Travel ExpectationsEmployees will need to arrange personal transportation for periodic in‑state travel. A valid driver’s license and reliable independent transportation are required. The position may also require compliance with university vehicle use authorization.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule day‑to‑day activities for program staff, student volunteers, and community volunteers.
- Supervise and project‑manage the work of Student Assistants supporting the educational program portfolio.
- Schedule and secure logistics and resources in support of an outreach program.
- Identify, promote, and maintain internal and external partnerships to advance the outreach program.
- Provide general office support for educational experiences and assist the Institute Associate Director and State Program Specialists’ priorities.
- Identify opportunities for program improvement or new outreach program development.
- Direct the implementation of program policies and procedures.

About the InstituteThe Extension Institute of Positive Youth Development prepares the youth of today to become effective, empathic adults of tomorrow. Our research‑based youth enrichment programs such as teens in governance, 4‑H clubs, camps and after‑school programs provide experiential learning for young people.
Additional Department DetailsPart of the Positive Youth Development Institute’s state administrative support team, this role supports the Institute’s statewide educational program portfolio and State Specialists under general supervision. Requires a customer‑service oriented individual with excellent communication, organizational skills, and attention to accuracy and detail.
CompensationMinimum annual salary: $59,603, negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Includes a comprehensive benefits package: paid time off, health/dental/vision/life insurance, tax‑advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension fund.
Required Qualifications- Two (2) years of relevant professional or volunteer service in education or youth development.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and direct program implementation for youth audiences.
- Experience developing and implementing policy, practices, and systems related to youth or adult programming.
- Experience supervising and directing volunteers or student employees.
- Experience evaluating program delivery, outcomes, impact, and effectiveness.
- Fiscal program budget responsibility or experience.
