Position: Teacher at KIPP Northeast Elementary (26/27 School Year)

About the Role

The Teacher is the instructional leader of their classroom and is directly responsible for driving student outcomes and creating an exceptional student experience. Teachers develop rigorous, engaging, affirming, grade-level and culturally-sustaining instruction aligned with the academic program; plan instruction, organize learning activities, and apply accommodations and modifications for students’ IEPs, BIPs, 504 Plans, ALPs, and MTSS interventions. The Teacher maintains a culturally responsive classroom community, upholds school-wide expectations, manages tier 1 behaviors, and communicates with families proactively.

The position is a 10-month academic role and is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position reports to a member of the school leadership team.

Role Responsibilities

Professional Responsibilities

  • Read, internalize, and adhere to KIPP Colorado Policies and Procedures
  • Provide active presence, strategic supervision, and intentional monitoring to ensure student safety and engagement in rigorous learning
  • Take ownership for professional growth and engage in coaching sessions; implement feedback and engage in practice
  • Be prepared for lessons, coaching, meetings, PD, and communications
  • Meet professional obligations including deadlines and schedules
  • Leverage professional tools (Google Suite, Microsoft Suite) effectively
  • Maintain strong attendance and punctuality
  • Collaborate with colleagues and seek feedback for continuous improvement
  • Reflect on practices and pursue professional development goals
  • Participate in grade level and department meetings and school-wide PD
  • Engage in school-wide initiatives and serve on teams to implement and improve practices
  • Share candid feedback with peers and leadership to improve outcomes for students
  • Assist with student and staff recruitment and engagement activities
  • Travel to KIPP campuses, Home Office, or PD events as required
  • Assist with other duties (e.g., lunch duty, arrival/dismissal, etc.)

Instructional Planning and Delivery

  • Develop standards-based instructional plans (unit plans, scope and sequences, weekly plans, daily lesson plans)
  • Plan rigorous lessons aligned with deadlines and internalize for high-quality instruction
  • Design and implement assessments aligned with objectives
  • Grade student work and provide feedback and support
  • Use high-quality instructional materials with fidelity; use data to inform reteach and reassessment
  • Use data to drive instruction and set/monitor progress toward goals
  • Implement IEPs, 504 Plans, ALPs, BIPs, and MTSS interventions with fidelity, including accommodations and progress monitoring

School Culture Alignment

  • Establish relationships with students and families based on trust and respect
  • Maximize instructional time with urgency
  • Maintain high expectations for academics and behavior
  • Establish and reinforce rules and consequences to sustain a positive classroom

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain student safety and engagement through supervision
  • Complete specialized certification requirements (e.g., MLE, literacy modules, ECE licensure, ESSA status)
  • Collaborate with Special Services for 504s, BIPs, IEPs, safety plans, accommodations, and language support
  • Enforce positive behavior systems and monitor behavior data
  • Attend school functions outside of hours as required
  • Perform support duties and participate in parent meetings and conferences
  • Develop relationships with families through home visits and school events; communicate progress and behavior
  • Participate in daily duties to support school operations
  • Maintain accurate records, grade books, and data tracking systems
Candidate Qualifications

What you will bring

  • Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • Spanish bilingual (preferred)
  • Ability and willingness to fulfill ESSA guidelines (required)
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience (highly preferred but not required)
  • Commitment to events and activities outside standard hours as directed by the school
  • Understanding of KIPP and commitment to an Exceptional Student Experience
  • Commitment to youth from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
