opportunity
the manager of student services: compliance ensures the implementation and assessment of special education compliance, developing and implementing ieps, coordinating evaluation timelines, case conference committee meetings, and supplementary/related services. Under the director of student services: compliance, the manager plays a central role in managing compliance across all schools, actively monitoring student records for federal, state, county, and district mandates. The manager provides support to special education teachers and ancillary staff at the building level, monitors iep and related meetings, and documents findings to ensure adherence to compliance rules, regulations, and guidelines.
responsibilitieskey responsibilities of the manager of ss: compliance include, but are not limited to:
- build capacity within the school building to produce grade‑appropriate and student‑focused special education services through the development of individualized education programs (ieps).
- establish and communicate clear deadlines for iep development, annual reviews, manifestations, and other required team meetings.
- interpret and communicate state and federal mandates for implementation at the district and building level.
- serve as a compliance coach for special education lead teachers.
- monitor timeliness for initial, annual, and re‑evaluation ieps, providing support and guidance to iep teams as needed to ensure compliance due dates are met.
- conduct electronic and manual monitoring of student sped records to ensure compliance with federal, state, and district mandates at central and building levels.
- provide support service and follow‑up activities for individual staff, building staff, and central office staff related to special education compliance.
- attend and facilitate all required team meetings, including iep and mdr meetings conducted at the school and central office levels.

- demonstrated ability to write compliant ieps.
- knowledge of ohio and other special education policies, procedures and programs.
- knowledge of federal and state special education laws, rules, regulations, and practices.

- master’s degree in the field of special education required.
- valid intervention specialist certification in the state of ohio required.
- minimum three years of teaching experience within exceptional student populations required; urban setting strongly preferred.
