Anticipated Homebound Instructor (10 hours/week)

POSITION TITLE: Anticipated Homebound Instructor for Instructional Support, Part-Time, Up to 10 Hours per Week

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed Teacher Preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative problem-solving skills.
  • Successful prior experience working with students and adapting curriculum content to learner needs.
  • Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning and the ability to apply these practices.
  • Commitment to the School District's mission and Strategic Plan.

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Support Services

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Homebound Tutor for Instructional Support works under the direction of the Director of Student Support Services and other school staff as appropriate. He/she will serve both special education and other students requiring homebound tutoring.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Instruct individual students according to their defined education plans and/or identified needs.
  • Support special education and/or regular classroom teacher suggestions for instructional delivery.
  • Supervise students' progress as assigned.
  • Maintain a record of student performance and growth as directed by the Director of Student Support Services.
  • Administer content area tests as appropriate.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with the Director of Student Support Services and appropriate school staff members.
  • Attend basic staffing and IEP conferences as requested.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and home during the time that any student is receiving homebound tutoring.
  • Participate in continuing professional development activities.
  • Assume other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Support Services.

EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated annually, in person and in writing, by the Director of Student Support Services consistent with the process described in the School Board/Support Staff Agreement; if the position exceeds 20 hours per week; otherwise, per current School Board Policy for Support Staff Personnel.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Per School Board and Support Staff Agreement if position exceeds 20 hours per week; otherwise, per current School Board Policy for Support Staff Personnel.
