Job Description

The Department of Drama within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part‑Time Instructor to teach DRA 333 On‑Camera Acting, a three credit hour course, during the Fall semester, 2026. Part‑time instructor needed for an upper‑level Acting course in On‑Camera acting. The role applies acting fundamentals for on‑camera work with an emphasis on identity exploration and inclusive work from diverse artists.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years teaching acting at the college level.
  • Advanced or terminal degree (or equivalent professional experience) desirable.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
  • Expertise in a diverse range of voices in contemporary and historical theater.
Responsibilities
  • Teaching class once a week for 190 minutes.
  • Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
  • Preparing lectures, projects or other student assignments.
  • Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
  • Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
  • Meeting all designated class periods.
  • If unavailable due to illness or emergency, exercise best effort to reschedule the class or obtain a substitute; notify the department chair and plan to cover the class.
  • Submitting completed mid‑semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
  • Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
  • Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
  • Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
