Position: Biology and Chemistry Online Short Term 2026-2027 Teaching Positions - UMC MST Division
Location: St. Paul

Position Summary

This is a short-term and/or temporary online Biology and Chemistry teaching position for the University of Minnesota – Crookston Campus's Math, Science, and Technology Department for the  academic year.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and teach courses
  • Advise students with regard to academic concerns and school-related organizations
  • May provide service‑related teaching duties
  • Participate in decision‑making related to policies, courses, and programs in which there is involvement
  • Continue personal growth within the profession, keep current with the field and broaden knowledge and expertise

Deliver high-quality instruction to undergraduate students in coursework in the fields of biology and chemistry. This position will assist in the development of department goals and objectives; advise students; and support research and community outreach in the discipline. Responsibilities also include developing and maintaining strong ties to other scholars in the field, enriching the student experience and supporting student employment opportunities.

The position requires regular office hours.

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree, preferably in the teaching discipline
  • Or, Master’s Degree in another field, plus 18 graduate credits in the teaching discipline
  • Terminal degree in the discipline or related area is preferred
  • Professional and/or teaching experience related to assigned instructional responsibilities
  • Willing to demonstrate self‑awareness, cultural competencies, and achievement in working with diverse student populations
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • Eligible to work within the United States
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $1300-$1500 per credit based on experience, course, and enrollment.

Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor‑Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications.
