SummaryThe primary responsibility is to assist the McKinney-Vento program in conducting housing assessments. Under the direction of the Federal Program Director and McKinney-Vento Liaison, the support staff processes assessments, student enrollments, and supports student and family needs. The role supports families in housing transition, prevents homelessness and performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct assessments for families that may qualify for McKinney-Vento services.
- Provide excellent customer service, communication, and organization of families’ needs and resources.
- Refer and connect families to district and community resources as needed.
- Attend training and remain knowledgeable about homelessness, housing resources, application assistance, and preventing homelessness.
- Gather and collect information on families in need, their resources, and prevention of homelessness.
- Collaborate with all departments within the District Office.
- Translate documents from English to Spanish as requested, acting as a translator when applicable.
- Handle information and records responsibly and confidentially.
- Perform all job duties professionally and confidentially.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- This job may be performed remotely if the employee can demonstrate high efficiency with remote work and receives prior approval from the Director of Federal Programs.

Education- Bachelor’s degree preferred. Degrees in social work, sociology, psychology, counseling, education, or related field given preference.
- Strong bilingual skills (Spanish/English) preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of homeless education program, homeless prevention, and support of at-risk families.
- Adept at working with adolescents, adults, and at‑risk families experiencing homelessness.
- Works well with students, staff, and the public.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Can work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Maintains confidentiality of staff, students, and community members.
Ability to read, interpret, and write documents, interpret governmental regulations, write routine reports and correspondence, present information, and respond to questions. Proficient in oral and written English and Spanish preferred.

Physical DemandsContinuously required to sit; occasionally walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, and lift up to 20 pounds. Requires close vision and speech communication.
Work EnvironmentWorks mostly inside; meets deadlines with severe time constraints.
Terms of EmploymentThis is a temporary position lasting until October 30, 2026. Employee works 20 hours per week during business hours, with some evening appointments.
