Purpose StatementThe home instruction visiting teacher provides instructional services in the homes of students enrolled in the Paradise Valley Unified School District who qualify as Homebound students. Homebound students are unable to attend school due to medical conditions that prohibit attendance at a brick and mortar school. A flexible work schedule is required. The position is salaried. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position.
EssentialDuties
- Deliver instructional services to eligible students, working collaboratively with faculty and staff to ensure student progress through the program.
- Meet regularly with assigned students as outlined in the teaching assignment.
- Develop a working relationship with students’ parents/guardians and serve as the primary point of contact.
- Receive and deliver teaching support materials to assigned students.
- Prepare, implement, and evaluate an educational plan for each student, including alignment to IEP objectives when appropriate.
- Provide appropriate accommodations and modifications to student programs based on individual needs.
- Utilize, maintain, and stay current with the student information system.
- Maintain, submit, and retrieve accurate student records, including academic progress and student contact time.
- Provide timely feedback to both students and parents throughout the year.
- Complete student progress and grade reports in accordance with district requirements.
- Participate in Individualized Education Planning (IEP) meetings.
- Work effectively with peers, parents, administrators, and related service personnel while maintaining confidentiality requirements.
- Administer state assessments, midterms, and final exams at predetermined district and/or home sites.
- Participate in professional development and trainings related to home instruction responsibilities.
- Utilize Google Classroom and technology for instruction.
- Assist in student re-entry to the home school campus.
- Meet established deadlines for required paperwork.
- Drive to and from district sites, students’ homes, and other agencies to provide services.
- Work in various settings with flexibility regarding hours.
Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements:Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Skills required to perform highly complex technical tasks and periodically upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions.
Knowledge of algebra and/or geometry, technical reading, composing documents, facilitating group discussions, and analyzing situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Knowledge of appropriate codes, policies, regulations, age-appropriate activities, lesson plan requirements, and stages of child development.
Abilities to gather, collate, and classify data; use job‑related equipment; work with a diversity of individuals; problem‑solve; establish and maintain constructive relationships; adapt to changing priorities; maintain confidentiality; exhibit tact and patience; and work flexible hours.
ExperienceJob related experience is desired.
EducationBachelor's degree in a related field. Bachelor degree preferred.
