Pay Range - $65,000 - $71,000
Pay Determination
- Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months' salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description - PROFESSOROFPRACTICE(Three-Year), MUSICALTHEATERDANCE, SYRACUSEUNIVERSITYSYRACUSEUNIVERSITYāThe Department of Drama, within the College of Visual and Performing Arts, a highly ranked BFA program uniquely integrated with a major regional theater, seeks to hire a Professor Practice of Musical Theater, Dance. The ideal candidate will teach a variety of levels and styles of dance applicable to contemporary musical theater performance. The department is particularly interested in hiring and developing new faculty who have the communication abilities and cross-cultural competencies to maximize their effectiveness with many different groups of students, colleagues, and community members.
We are looking for collaborative colleagues who will participate in the life of a vibrant department and remain active in their field. This is a three-year position beginning Fall 2026.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree plus additional preparation, as demonstrated by either significant professional experience and/or relevant advanced degree, are required.
Job Specific Qualifications
- Demonstrated teaching excellence in a pre-professional, professional, or university environment is required. Demonstrated professional experience, teaching, and creative activity. Demonstrated significant experience in their field and a reputation that will enable them serve as an effective conduit between the department, its students, and the profession.
Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of levels and styles of dance applicable to contemporary musical theater performance as assigned by the Chair and based upon expertise. Engage in continued professional creative work as schedule permits. Serve as a professional mentor to department students and creative advisor to departmental productions. Serve on committees in the Department, College, and University. This may include program development, community outreach, student advising, mentoring of student organizations, and participating in accreditation- and assessment-related activities.
