Nursing Faculty Member
A nursing faculty member is responsible for teaching designated courses and for supervision of student in clinical practice settings. The faculty member is also responsible for developing educational materials consistent with the university and department mission statements, theoretical and conceptual frameworks, outcome statements, Georgia Board of Nursing and professional accreditation standards. The nine-month teaching contract with 18 credit-hour teaching load.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Have a minimum of an unencumbered license as a registered nurse and a doctoral degree in nursing or related field.
- Have a minimum of one year of nursing program teaching experience (2 or more years preferred)
- Simulation Lab Management experience strongly preferred.
- Have appropriate experience in the practice of professional nursing and education.
- Current Georgia nursing license in good standing with Georgia Board of Nursing.
- Current BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers required.
- Excellent academic credentials in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with course faculty to develop nursing courses.
- Accurately document student progress and achievement within specific courses and/or clinical assignments.
- Collaborate with faculty to develop, support, and implement the university and department mission statements, theoretical and conceptual frameworks, and outcome statements.
- Accept responsibility for assignments as delegated.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records.
- Support and participate in School of Nursing Faculty Organization meetings.
- Collaborate with course coordinators to determine resources needed.
- Collaborate with course coordinators to evaluate courses.
- Participate in ongoing evaluation of the nursing programs and curricula.
- Serve on a minimum of one School of Nursing committee and a minimum of one Brenau University committee.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate educational materials consistent with the university and department missions, Georgia Board of nursing, and professional accreditation standards. Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and learning activities to enhance classroom and clinical learning and promote student achievement of program outcomes.
- Fulfill all other duties and responsibilities of the faculty position as designated in the Brenau University Faculty and Staff Guidelines and the School of Nursing Faculty Handbook.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No supervisory responsibilities required.
Work Hours:
¾ time. 30 hours per week. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department. Nights/weekends as needed.
Appointment Length: 9 months, continuous
Environmental and Working Conditions/Physical Demands and Aptitudes:
Mostly sedentary work. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment related to teaching. Prolonged periods sitting and standing. Worker is required to have close visual acuity to grade papers, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Must have the ability to travel short distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials.
Exerting up to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Some repetitive motion.

Travel Requirements:
Minimal local travel and operation of a university vehicle and/or one's own vehicle required. Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid Georgia driver's license, and good driving record.
