Pay Range: $7,500 – $9,000 per 3-credit hour course

Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months' salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description:
The School of Architecture seeks a part-time instructor to teach a 3-credit course on professional practice during the Fall (M/W, 2:15-3:35p; 3:45-5:05) and Spring (TBD) semesters. The course is a requirement for undergraduate and graduate students in their final year. The expected salary range for this position is $7,500 – $9,000 for this 3-credit hour course. the candidate's education, training, work experience and key competencies; the university's strategic priorities; internal peer equity; applicable federal, state, local laws, grant funding and contractual requisites; and external market analyses. This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200 United.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have extensive professional architectural design practice experience and a record of recognized built work. Candidates with strong intellectual and creative direction, in pursuit of innovative and progressive models of professional practice are encouraged to apply. Candidates must be prepared to teach required content such as firm legal structure, business development, branding and identity, financial management, fee structure, contracts, project management and delivery, ethics, etc.
The School is particularly interested in candidates with teaching experience in an accredited professional architecture degree program. The School is committed to supporting diversity in its student population, faculty, and curriculum.
Responsibilities:
Those of a part-time faculty member with a teaching load of 3-credits including: developing a syllabus for ARC
585 that incorporates topics including, but not limited to, architect-client relations, legal and financial aspects of practice, business planning and ethics, project delivery and contracts, professional services, etc. Preparation of lectures, projects, or other assignments. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours. Meeting all designated class periods. Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. Submitting final grades according to university regulations.
Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner. Building a positive rapport with students.
