Aboutthe Role
As Playworks approaches 20 years of partnership with Boston Public Schools, we are deepening our investment in school communities through our Whole School Improvement Partnership model. The Playworks Senior Program Coordinator (also known as Playworks Coach) supports schools through both direct student programming and whole‑school partnership initiatives with elementary‑aged youth who are dependable, adaptable, and eager to become a valued trusted partner within a school community.
CorePlayworks Programming
- Lead and implement key activities that facilitate active recess programming that promotes positive behavior, student [content truncated].
- Lead Class Game Time (CGT) sessions that build teamwork, conflict resolution, confidence, and physical activity through structured play for 5th‑grade students, supporting leadership development, communication, and model strong relationship‑building and positive behavior with students, staff, and families across the school community.
- Support school‑wide improvement efforts through collaborative, data‑informed programming aligned to school goals such as attendance, school climate, behavior, student belonging.
- Use program and school data to inform planning, monitor impact, and support development sessions, family events, and community activities related to school culture and operations.
- Ensure high‑quality program implementation and operational excellence across all quality and impact.
- Manage schedules, reporting, program documentation, and other administrative tasks; attend and actively participate in trainings, coaching, and professional development.
- No prior experience required; willingness to actively participate in games and set a positive example to the children.
- Experience working with elementary‑aged students in school, youth development, recreation, camp, coaching, or educational settings.
- Strong organization, time management, and communication skills.
- Comfortable collaborating with adults across diverse teams and environments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism.
- Passion for youth development, play‑based learning, and creating a positive school culture; experience supporting school culture or student engagement efforts is a plus.
This is a seasonal, full‑time, non‑exempt position starting in August with 40 hours per week at $23.75 - $26.59 per hour.
