Position Description
NTL Online Faculty, Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) at the St. David’s School of Nursing, Texas State University, is seeking a clinical nursing faculty (3 positions) for a nine-month appointment with potential for summer employment. The School of Nursing is one of eight academic programs within the College of Health Professions.
The responsibilities include teaching, simulation, curriculum development, and maintenance of program and accreditation standards. Faculty are expected to engage in scholarly activities and academic service to the school, college, and university.
Required QualificationsFor the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor:
- Earned Master of Science degree in nursing from an accredited university.
- Earned PMH‑NP Master of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited university.
- National Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
- Eligible for RN and APRN licensure in Texas.
- Demonstrated clinical competence as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (minimum two years of full‑time current practice experience).
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning consistent with the program vision, mission, and goals as evidenced by a presentation to faculty.
- Evidence of ability to work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and clinical partners, contributing to a positive team environment.
- A demonstrated record of accomplishments or activities in scholarship, teaching, and service.
- A minimum of five years of full‑time teaching experience at the university level.
- Demonstrated strong collegial relationships.
For both ranks:
- Earned doctorate in nursing or similar healthcare field or enrolled in a doctoral nursing program with an earned bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing.
- Teaching experience utilizing distance education modalities, including online instruction and virtual simulation.
- Demonstrated collegial leadership and team development.
- Experience in building and promoting community relationships and partnerships in clinical or academic settings.
- Experience in higher education including accreditation, program development, assessment, and curriculum design.
