Michigan Technological University’s Global Campus makes the possibility of earning an online graduate degree or certificateavailable to a broader range of students, including workingprofessionals and career changers. MTU Global Campus is committed to enhancing opportunities for nontraditional students and industrial partners.
The Director of Global Campus and Continuing Education is responsible for the operations of the global campus and reports tothe Vice President for Global Campus. This role directly managesstaff in admissions, marketing, and support services and is responsible for financial management (annual budgeting and planning). This role builds and maintains relationships with academic departments, faculty, and staff to oversee online degreeand non-credit programs and serves as the primary contact foron-campus relationships.
The Director ensures the quality of onlinecourses and compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
The role works with strategic external relationships, corporatepartnerships, and marketing for academic departments.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
• Direct the operations of the Global Campus in developingoperational goals and initiatives to achieve overall goals.
• Provide staff supervision, coaching, and evaluation of performance for admissions, marketing, and support services.
Managing the hiring of staff.
• Provide strategic direction to develop and drive online and continuing education strategy to meet nontraditional and onlineeducation needs.
• Build new and maintain current programs, provide modality reviewin collaboration with departments and faculty.
• Review, analyze, and evaluate programs with the deans/chairs toensure the effectiveness and instructional quality ofcourses/programs; identify and employ areas for improvement incourses/programs in conjunction with the Center for Teaching and Learning.
• Work with the Graduate School, Provost, and Registrar’s Office toresolve complex student issues, ensure proper communication, and implement new programs.
• Build working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; evaluate recruitment success through marketing and recruitment efforts.
• Develop and implement plans and policies for online learning,perform annual program assessments, and financial management.
• Expand the infrastructure for online learning for degrees,certificates, and professional development programs, includingworkforce development.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to providenon-credit training, hiring of facilitators, development anddelivery of programs, and payment structure.
• Enhance educational experiences for students relating to onlineprogramming.
• Conduct university business in a professional and ethical manner that includes the university core values of integrity, empowerment,service, learning, and collaboration.
• Communicate effectively in a professional, tactful, and courteous manner with students, employees, faculty, partners, and the general public.
• Ensure that all activities are conducted within the establisheduniversity policies, FERPA guidelines, and other applicable laws pertaining to employment and education.
