Position Summary

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Manhattan University invites applications for two tenure‑track Assistant Professor positions beginning August 2026. We seek dynamic teacher‑scholars committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, mentoring, and impactful research aligned with our teacher‑scholar model.
This is an in‑person, on‑campus, non‑remote position.

Candidates are sought in two primary areas: (1) Solid Mechanics & Mechanical Systems and (2) Thermal/Fluids Engineering. Within these core domains, we are particularly interested in applicants whose work intersects with one or more emerging areas, including Artificial Intelligence, Data‑Driven Engineering Systems, Sustainable Building Systems, Energy Infrastructure, Mechatronics, Intelligent Systems, Aerospace Propulsion, and Space Systems.

This is an excellent time to join the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Having undergone significant growth over the last decade, the department has started to offer concentrations in Biomechanics and Aerospace, respectively, at the undergraduate level. These concentrations are in addition to the eight concentrations currently offered in the graduate program.

  • Participate in departmental and University service, including curriculum development, student recruitment, outreach, and community engagement.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

  • Demonstrate excellence in academic research and a strong commitment to high‑quality teaching and student advising.
  • Exhibit dedication to mentoring and supporting a diverse and talented student body in an inclusive and excellence‑driven academic environment.
  • Show a clear plan for advancing a research program that meaningfully integrates undergraduate participation and aligns with their scholarly interests.
  • Embrace the teacher‑scholar model at a primarily undergraduate institution.
