Academic Advisor - Tippie College of Business

The Tippie College of Business seeks candidates for an Academic Advisor in its Undergraduate Program Office. The position is responsible for advising undergraduate business students on issues including four‑year degree planning, major selection, and academic and professional goals, in addition to participating in the administration of programs, policies, and procedures related to the College and University.

This position is eligible to work one day from home. Immediate availability is preferred.

• Provide holistic advising to prospective and current undergraduate business students regarding their academic career and goals, including course planning and registration, majors and degree requirements, opportunities for involvement, and policies and procedures.
• Provide advice to incoming first‑year students during summer orientation sessions.
• Make referrals to appropriate resources to support student success.
• Assist students in identifying their interests, abilities, and in making decisions about their academic and future professional career goals.
• Identify issues that may create barriers to student success and retention.
• Serve as the Tippie Undergraduate Program Office liaison for an academic program within the Tippie College of Business.
• Support an additional programmatic area identified within the first year of employment, with interests considered along with departmental needs.

• Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experience, typically 1‑2 years, in direct student contact at the undergraduate level.
• Experience and ability to foster a welcoming and respectful environment for student success.
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated constructive and collaborative relationship‑building skills with a variety of individuals and groups, including peers, leadership, and external constituents.

• A Master’s degree.

Pay Range: $44,000 – $47,000 per year.

• Regular salaried position. Pay Level 3A.

Located in Iowa City, Iowa. Hybrid work within Iowa is eligible for this position. Work arrangements will be reviewed annually and must comply with the remote work program and related policies when working at a remote location.
