Pay Range - $1,400 - $2,000 per credit hour

Job Description
- The College of Arts & Sciences at Syracuse University seeks a Part-time Instructor to teach FSC
452/652 – Forensic Mental Health in Fall 2025. Course

Description:

Role of consultation, research and clinical practice in areas in which psychiatry is applied to legal issues. Covers how mental health and legal systems function together; issues common to forensic psychiatric analyses. This course is 3 credits and meets in-person on the SU campus. The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per-credit-rate-history within the hiring department.

All course offerings are subject to funding availability and enrollment. This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200 United.

Qualifications
- Experience with both the practical and theoretical aspects of various areas of mental health and how they are applied in a forensic science setting. Experience presenting lectures and presentations. Qualified and practicing or retired forensic psychologist is a preferred.

Responsibilities
- Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date. Preparing lectures, projects or other student assignments. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week. Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class. Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet with your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute.

You must also notify the department chair or their designated contact of your absence and of your plan to cover the class. Working with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes. Submitting completed final grades according to University regulations. Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner. Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations. Completing all other course-related duties as outlined by your department's policies for part-time instructors.
